About this time every year I make a few predictions about
what will rate "HOT" for the coming year in the online
world. Last year, among other things, online audio topped my
list for 2005.

This year, 2006, I see full-motion online video as the
"killer app" to revolutionize website communications and
ecommerce.

Bottom line: with a digital camcorder and some basic
software, you can transform your website into the Home
Shopping Network, and with distribution tools like
Video.Google.com and video Podcasting on Apple's iTunes, you
can broadcast to the masses just like CNN.

Several major changes in 2005 set the stage for full-motion
video online.

These include faster, cheaper computers, improved video
creation and conversion software, and widespread adoption of
the free "Flash" Web browser plug-in (works on PC and MAC).

Combine these changes with the fact that over 50% of all
Internet users in the United States got high-speed access as
of 2005, and you set the stage for an online video
revolution.

In 2006, you will see the equivalent of little online TV
stations cropping up all over the Internet.

Along with the free-form, "anything goes" content of video
blogging (vlogging), commercial use of full-motion video
will fall into 4 basic categories.

Website "Infomercials" - Any savvy business knows the
Internet actually represents the largest direct-response
advertising medium ever seen.

As such, infomercial techniques of late-night fitness, self-
improvement, and real estate gurus will spill over into
other niche markets online.

Though initially not 30-minutes long like their TV
counterparts, online infomercials will last 2-5 minutes -
long enough to get all the main sales points across.

Live Demonstrations - If a picture is worth a thousands
words, then full-motion video is worth 100,000 words!

Any product that easily gets sold once people see it in
action will greatly benefit from online video.

Also, service businesses such as Realtors can now easily and
inexpensively create full-motion video home tours.

And, sellers on the popular eBay auction site can now show
and demonstrate their items rather than depending strictly
on text and static pictures to make the sale.

Before and After - Anyone selling a diet product, skin care,
cleaning, car repair or other product promising specific
results for the end user can now "show and tell" using full-
motion online video.

Imagine the impact of showing concrete evidence in "before
and after" video to help you make the sale online.

Product Testimonials - Despite widespread acceptance of
online shopping and ecommerce, many people remain skeptical
and somewhat leery of purchasing anything online, especially
based strictly on promises made on a website.

With video testimonials you can put their minds at ease by
showing video of people who used and benefited from the
product or service.

Imagine the impact that will have on the trust and
credibility for any website.

A word of caution to all would-be online videographers:
dial-up users still make up a huge part of the online
population, so you must always try to offer them a dial-up-
friendly option to watch your video or receive your
information.

Don't cater strictly to the high-speed crowd because you'll
alienate a significant portion of the marketplace.

Niche Affiliate Marketing

What is 'Niche Affiliate Marketing?' It is a catch-phrase
or brand that I have come up with to describe a system of
marketing, really. Niche Marketing is generally understood
as finding and selling products that are kind of unique,
and therefore do not have as much competition in the market
place. This concept is key to this system.

Affiliate marketing is, of course, selling memberships or
products in affiliation with another company, to get
commissions, usually on a multi-level or tiered
arrangement. The seller gets commissions on their sales and
also a percentage of the sales made by members who have
signed up under them.

The pitfall, for many newcomers, here is that they will try
to sell, using the splash pages provided for them by the
company. After a few years of being in business, one sees
countless webpages that are all exactly alike. The newcomer
has faded into the crowd. The same problem exists for most
any product that exists; how to keep from disappearing into
the multitude of similar products. This problem, of course
gets worse all the time.

So how can a well known affiliate program or any other
product become 'Niche?' It's all in how you present it. For
one thing, you need to put your own site together and
develop your own brand or identity. I've written in other
articles of the great advantage to having your own domain.

Unfortunately, many newbies choose domain names the same
way they pick names for their dog; by whatever appeals to
them. This is not wise because there is an exact science to
selecting a domain or brand that has to do with search
engines and keywords.

One cannot under value the importance of this science,
since research shows that 95% of internet users use the
internet like a yellow pages directory; they go right to
their favorite search engine. This makes search engines and
search ranking the most important of all means to advertise.

When you come up with a name or brand, for your business,
put some thought into it. Remember, it doesn't matter how
good or artful the name you choose is, if it's not
something that people actually type into their favorite
search engine box.

You might think that you've come up with the greatest and
catchiest name in the world. It may make perfect sense to
you and seem to be a perfect description but, if no one
else ever thinks of typing this name into the search box,
it doesn't do you much good.

Start by making a list of possible names. I always
recommend that you put yourself in the place of your
prospective customers. Ask yourself what keyphrases you
would type into a search box if you were looking for the
kind of service or product that you offer.

Ask yourself what types of general descriptions your
business would be found under and start making some lists.
Then comes the important part. Research the keyword phrases
on your list.

Find out, for sure, if people have been typing in the
keyword phrases that you have come up with and exactly how
many. While doing this part of the research, you should
easily be able to collect hundreds of pertinant keywords
and keyword phrases that you can use on your website.

After doing your research, make your selection from your
list for your new name and or URL. This is where the niche
part comes in. Select a phrase that you believe you can
reasonably get to the top of a search engine page with. Use
this as a domain name.

Why 2% Of The Affiliates Make 98% Of The Sales

Have you ever wondered why most affiliates who promote products
don't make a living at what their doing? If you think about it, the
answer is quite simple. No real training from someone who has done
it before them.

Most new affiliates join a program, download the sales page and put
up a few ads and think the traffic is going to flock to their site
and that they are going to end up with lots of sales.....and who
told them this? The one who made the product or some webmaster who's
looking for affiliates.

I hate to be the bearer of bad news but that's just not going to
happen. You are 9 times more likely to fail then to succeed if you
use those techniques. Yet, that is exactly what the majority of
affiliates do and then wonder why they fail.

Here is what you really need to do to become an super-affiliate.
First, find the right program to promote. Just because you make 50-
75% commission on a sale doesn't mean the product is worth selling.
75% of $0.00 is still 0.00! Find a product or service to promote
that actually gives your customer their money's worth and more. If
you don't think it's an amazing deal....how will your customer?

Second, learn from someone who has made a comfortable living from
affiliate sales to show you the ropes. If they haven't been a
successful affiliate of a program, how can they show you how to do
it? If they don't know the steps they need to take, then they can't
tell you the steps either. The best people to learn from are
the "Super-Affiliates". They have been there and done that and know
exactly what needs to be done.

Third, make sure the promoter of the program just doesn't want you
to join their program to sell you more. For example, once you join
their program, is the promoter trying to sell you an isp, web
hosting, graphic software and etc? If so, where is their heart? Is
it in helping you become a success or in their own interest? While
it's ok to "upsell", it's not ok for the program promoter to say you
have to buy all this or that to be able to sell their product. If
they do, then find another product or service to sell.

Fourth, keep your cost to a minimum. You don't need all those bells
and whistles to make money being an affiliate. Keep it simple. Do
you know there is an affiliate program out there that can make you
money even if you don't have a website, an email list or product of
your own right now? That's hard to believe, isn't it? But it's true!

Fifth, how many levels are you getting paid for with your affiliate
program? I'm not taking about MLM, I'm talking about...does you
affiliate program have ways to make money on the front end, a higher
upsell and a way to make money on back-end sales? If not, then you
are losing a lot of money that should be yours to keep. Money the
program promoter is making and not sharing with you. If that's the
case then find another product or service to promote because you are
losing the biggest part of your commission.

Sixth, does your affiliate program make you sales on auto-pilot once
it is set-up? This is very important as you don't want to waste your
time doing the same thing over and over again to make sales. Do you
have access to your own proprietary affiliate tools provided by the
promoter of your product and if so, does he provide them free? If
not, again look elsewhere for a product to promote.

You'll be able to tell if a product promoter is in it just for the
money for himself, or whether he is in it for your benefit too. If
he is trying to charge you for every little thing, doesn't offer you
intense, in-depth detailed training at least at minimal cost, if not
free, then more than likely he is after your money whether you make
a penny or not.

Find someone who has been a success at affiliate sales and has made
a living at it to learn their techniques and to model. Find a great
product that you are enthused about and find someone that wants to
help YOU and is not just in it for themselves.
